Male versus female is the second question families ask, right after color. The honest answer: the individual puppy matters more than the sex. Still, there are patterns worth knowing.
Males
Males often finish heavier and can be more outwardly confident. They may take longer to mentally mature. Enzo, Thor, Roy, Robbie, Hero, Bota, and Honcho are the current boys. Hero is a standout black male with videos if you want to see that presence in motion.
Females
Females often stay a bit lighter and can be quicker to settle into household rhythm. That is a tendency, not a law. Bianca is gentle. Tonya is a top-of-the-range black female. Lucy is a blue girl at $950. Ten females are available on the females page.
How we would choose
Read the puppy’s page. Watch the videos if they have them. Ignore the fantasy of “males protect, females love.” Both sexes protect. Both sexes love. Pick the temperament that fits your fence, your kids, and your experience. Then open the males or females list and sit with two or three faces.
